We have many items from the Lee Middleton Doll Company, but the most popular by far is the Middleton Bedding Set shown above. It includes a mattress, pillow and blanket - all in pretty pastels.

Another popular Middleton item is the Middleton Flower Pajama Set . . . notice the fuzzy slippers that are included!

They are perfect for 19 to 20 inch Playbabies . . . and back in stock. Don't miss the Puppy PJs either - too cute.

More on Rebecca Rubin, newest American Girl Doll

Our Rebecca arrived and she is wonderful! As you can see above, we've already put her to work modeling a cute sailor outfit that we thought was perfect for her (it even includes the shoes, socks and hat!)

We also received and read the six books - here's our predictions on future products we can expect:

1. Rebecca crochets very, very well - and has a special sewing basket for it. I'm sure that will be coming

2. I thought her doll would be the nesting dolls mentioned in the first book . . . but in Rebecca to the Rescue (# 5) she visits Coney Island with her family (the day after her brother's bar mitzvah as a special treat for everyone). She isn't able to win the Kewpie Doll she wants but her brother wins it for her.

3. Fashions: The Movie Dress already out is a costume she wears in the silent movie "The Suitor" starring her cousin Max as the gardner-suitor (Bk # 4)

I certainly hope the dress on the cover of Candlelight for Rebecca comes out for Hanukkah as it really looks special and I want it!

I think the outfit on the cover of # 6, Changes for Rebecca will be another item - it's a coral color with embroidery down the front, white collar and cuffs trimmed with lace, a white hip belt and it looks like an overskirt on the sides (hard to explain, see page 67)

The only nightwear shown did NOT include the cute white outfit AG is selling us - Rebecca is wearing striped PJs (almost like Molly's!) and her cousin Ana is wearing a white nightie that looks like Josefina's!

Most of the other outfits weren't shown in great detail but a pale blue dress was shown several time so that is a possibility.

Here's another outfit we thought Rebecca would like (look for it in July at DollCloset.com) - a coat and hat, sleeveless dress underneath plus tights and black boots!

Rebecca and Samantha Dolls

In case you haven't seen it yet, the New York Times had an article about Rebecca . . . with a picture! Click HERE to read it and see her picture . . . Cute isn't she?

I was glad to read she wouldn't have dark brown hair as that would be too much like Ruthie's . . . and I'm soooo tired of red hair!! Rebecca's hair shade sounds perfect - now to really see what her hairdo looks like! Her face mold looks the same as Josefina's.

I'm really looking forward to her!

We have several outfits coming that we think will be perfect for Rebecca but in the meantime, Samantha's clothes will do in a pinch.

Rebecca Rubin, 1914 American Girl Doll!

Just received some information and pictures from the books coming about Rebecca!

She arrives (it appears) in a dark red or burgundy straight dress with a belt around the hipline and gold buttons down the front. Black cuffs and tiny collar are accents. NO bangs, curly brown hair (shoulder length) and a big white hairbow at the back of her head.

Her parents immigrated from Russia so her "doll" is a set of nesting dolls that were her mother's. She has a little brother and twin older sisters . . . her Mama has a cousin who is an actor! Rebecca wants to do that too.

In the second book, Ana, Rebecca's cousin arrives from Russia and the two families live together in New York City.

In the third book, Rebecca celebrates Hanukkah . . . she is wearing a very good looking lilac dress on the cover! She has a pretty pink dress on the fourth book's cover - and hat. It's called Rebecca and the Movies.

The plots of the books include immigration, Ellis Island, the Silver Screen and the Labor Movement.

Looks like fun!! Sorry but I don't yet have pictures to share but will try to find . . .

Dolls in the News!

Let's start with American Girl Dolls . . . first, both Chrissa and Sonali have joined DollCloset.com as models. You can see Chrissa above dressed for Winter in the Pink and Solali is pictured below in her Red Roses dress . . . it's on sale as part of our Valentine Specials (through February 14, 2009)

The HOT news about American Girl Dolls is that it's official - there will be a NEW Historical doll in 2009!! Her name is Rebecca and she lives in New York in 1914. Not sure when she will be released but her books come out in June - they are:

Meet Rebecca
Rebecca and Ana
Candlelight for Rebecca
Rebecca and the Movies
Rebecca to the Rescue
Changes for Rebbecca

From the names of her accessories it's apparent she is Jewish - her accessories have been said to be: a Sabbath set, a Hanukkah set, a sideboard, a bed, kittens, a phonograph, a movie outfit, a school outfit, and a school set.
Can't wait!! The last Jewish doll was Lindsey, the first Doll of the Year - our Lindsey model is pictured below in a her Blue Twin Set.

Following up American Girl is the owner - Mattel - they just won the court case against Bratz Dolls! Bratz Dolls is to be discontinued . . . but, of course, there will be appeals so who knows what will happen when. Quite a victory for Mattel -

New dolls are being shown now at the IDEX Show in Florida and then at the Toy Fair in New York City. Here's what we know so far:

Corolle Baby Dolls will include a 14 inch interactive baby doll named Bebe Tresor, The doll will coo, babble or giggle when rocked. The other Corolle interactive dolls are 17 inches (like Lila shown below), so this is a great addition to their line. And, of course there are great new fashions in all of their doll sizes!

There are some new dolls coming from Ginny - but not as many as in the past. All new dolls will be the Vintage 7.5" style rather than the Modern 8" style except ONE. There are a few new outfits coming for the Vintage Ginny dolls too. If you want a Modern Dress-Me Ginny or a Clothing Pack, we have a few left . . . but cannot get more from Vogue. We do have more of several including Oh So Pretty" shown below:

New Gotz 18" Dolls will be coming in March or April; Elisabeth shown below looks the same, but Julia (the redhead) and Jessica (the blonde) are in new outfits. Unfortunately, the prices will be going up (but not as high as American Girl Dolls!)

The Gotz Baby Dolls will not include a redhead this year - fortunately we still have a few left of the 2008 Maxy Muffins shown below. Look for a new hairdo for the 2009 Maxy Muffins - two cute braids!

The question we get over and over is "Will I get my order in time?"

We don't have Rudolph to help us, but the answer is YES . . . if:

* You shop early enough (that is BEFORE December 9, 2008 for Standard Shipping) so that your order can be prepared . . .unlike most companies, many of our clothing items are pressed and put on hangers before they leave us;

* then packed carefully (as repeat customers know - we do a super careful job);
and

* mailed Priority or shipped FedEx Ground.

We try to use Priority Mail as much as we can as we have found them to be very dependable and reasonable in cost . . . however, the US Post Office has a limit on the package size of one cubic foot! As a result, many dolls that would have gone by mail in the past are now going by FedEX Ground.

Unfortunately, we have learned in the past 10 years that the Post Office and FedEx have capacity limits! Your standard delivery packages MUST be in transit by December 12th which means we need the order by December 8th. We know the Post Office issues later dates but, trust us, it doesn't work that way for most items. You don't need more stress!

The Post Office gets so bogged down that many times containers and containers of Priority Mail packages are stored at an airport and don't even begin on the jouney until after Christmas. If there is a snow or ice storm, delays increase even more.

After a certain point, all the Post Office can work on is the Express Mail . . . and the same applies to us at DollCloset.com.
That is why we urge you to use Express Mail if you order after December 8th and want delivery by Christmas.

Delivery after Christmas will also be delayed . . . several years ago a customer wanted some Birthday Party items for December 28th and told us to use Priority Mail. Her order did not arrive until a week and a half after the party!
Her Daddy made up stories to tell her every night - about Raggedy Ann and Andy and all of their friends! Eventually he wrote the stories down and had them published in his daughter's memory.
